D187 colleagues (Jennifer Mindel, Rosy Gallegos, Paul Blue, and Katherine Paredes) join Dr. Stacy Thomas in the opening reception for the Evanston Made BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) Group Show. Thomas, who is a native of Evanston, IL, debuted an art piece entitled "Red Phase One: Thoughts of a Child". The art piece is a replica of the COVID 19 “Perseverance” commemorative ribbon project inspired by our superintendent, Dr. John Price. Remnants of ribbons, inscribed with powerful statements from North Chicago students, are thoughtfully woven into a section of the “fence” just as the actual project that was displayed along the fence surrounding the NCCHS football field last year.
Principal Malika Rodgers and her spouse joined Thomas for a revisit, Tour & Talk later in the month. This piece among many other culturally significant displays of art will be part of the BIPOC exhibit until June 30. Evanston Art Center 1717 Central At. Evanston, IL
