AJK teachers and administration, attended the “What Is Racial Justice?" art exhibit at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, located in Evanston, IL.
Curated by local Evanston artist, Fran Joy, and featuring 20 artists from Evanston and the greater Chicago area, the “What Is Racial Justice?" exhibit asks the questions:
- WHAT DOES RACIAL JUSTICE MEAN AND WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
- WHAT IS YOUR VISION OF IT?
- HOW DO WE GET THERE?
AJK Art teacher, Dr. Stacy Thomas, entered a piece titled "Racism" originally created by members of the 2019 AJK Art Club. The piece was recently refurbished and prepped for display by cadets from Mr. Alvarez's 4th Grade class.
Thomas donated a piece of her own art titled "Nandi" to the exhibit. Her print raised $150! All proceeds from the event went to the Haitian Relief Fund.
The Northwestern News Network reports on the event.
