At AJK, we are proud to recognize April as the Month of the Military Child, a special time to honor and celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of our students who are part of military families.
The Month of the Military Child was established in 1986 by former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger. Since then, it has served as an opportunity for communities, schools, and organizations to show support and appreciation for military-connected children.
A common symbol of this month is the color purple, representing all branches of the military: Army green, Navy blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue. This month, we encourage our school community to show support by participating in Purple Up Fridays & Purple Up Day, Tuesday, April 15th, where weāll wear purple to honor all branches of the military and the children who serve alongside their families.
As we recognize the Month of the Military Child, letās take a moment to celebrate the courage, adaptability, and contributions of military kids. Their service, though often unseen, is deeply valued.
