OAKE Conference

Malik Hill and Santiago Perez, two talented students from AJK Academy, North Chicago School District 187, recently attended a prestigious music education conference hosted by the Organization of American KodĆ”ly Educators (OAKE). Accompanied by Erin Flynn, a dedicated music teacher from Evelyn Alexander School, the students engaged in a unique learning experience focused on the KodĆ”ly methodā€”a renowned approach to music education that emphasizes singing, movement, and musical literacy.

Held in Chicago, IL at the Palmer House Hotel, the conference brought together students, educators, and musicians from across the country. Malik and Santiago had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, learn from expert clinicians, and collaborate with peers who share their passion for music.

This was an incredible experience for Malik and Santiago, they not only strengthened their musical skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the power of music education.

The participation of Malik and Santiago in this national event highlights the districtā€™s commitment to providing enriching opportunities that foster creativity and learning beyond the classroom.
